The Incident of "Accidental Prime Minister" is a Game or Really an Accident?

The trailer of the political drama, “The Accidental Prime Minister,” released Dec. 27. Based on Sanjaya Baru’s 2014 best-selling memoir by the same name, the trailer gives us a glimpse of what happened behind the curtains when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the prime minister of India.

An ex-journalist, political commentator and policy analyst, Sanjaya Baru worked as media strategist to the former Prime Minister from May 2004 onwards, and the role is essayed by Akshaye Khanna. On the other hand, Anupam Kher's resemblance to Dr. Manmohan Singh is brilliant and has become a talking point. He had to modulate his voice to sound like Singh and even strained his throat in the process. It is also known that Kher’s mother considers her son crazy to essay a role that is distanced from his own political leanings.
While German actor Suzanne Bernert plays Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra will be seen as Priyanka Gandhi. Arjun Mathur plays Rahul Gandhi in The Accidental Prime Minister. The film is helmed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.
The film is being released just before the Lok Sabha elections. Anupam Kher was asked at the trailer launch if BJP intends to use this to their advantage, he said, “Patriotic films release on Independence Day and Republic Day, so we decided that we will release our film around elections, as it is on politics. What’s the problem in that?”
Satyajeet Tambe Patil, president of the Maharashtra State Youth Congress, threatened to stop the screening of the film across India if cuts suggested by the office bearers of the Youth Congress aren’t made.

“If the said movie is released without prior screening for our office bearers and without making necessary changes recommended by us that we find out after viewing the movie then it will be understood that you are doing this deliberately and we have other options to stop the screening of the same across India for which you and your team would be completely held responsible,” read the part of the letter.
